Destiny Japan, Christian Tours
ATTENTION:
Thank you to all of you who have been praying for Japan at this time!
Although the areas included in our tour have not been directly affected by Japan’s earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011, out of respect for those who are still suffering in Japan in the Tohoku area, we have decided to postpone our 2011 AUTUMN Tours. We will be restarting our tours again in SPRING 2012. For more information Please continue to pray for Japan and the lovely Japanese people!
Thank you so much for your understanding, support, and prayers!
In Christ,
Destiny Japan Team
Destiny Japan is a family-run operation that plans and promotes excursions on behalf of AlphaOmega Tours Ltd, which is based in the Seychelles. Operating out of the Kansai (Osaka-Kobe-Kyoto-Nara) area, we specialize in organizing innovative and inspiring journeys for English-speaking travelers from all over the world who are looking for a different approach to Japan and its culture.
OUR VISION
Aiming to serve the global community by providing more than just “an enjoyable holiday", we strive to make our guests’ time in Japan a dynamic and meaningful “experience”. Simultaneously we introduce multi-faceted splendors of the Japan of Today as well as acquaint our guests with the Japan of Old through excursions to modern and historic places of interest in Tokyo, Hakone, and Hiroshima; in Nagasaki, Unzen, and Shimabara; and in the cities of Fukuoka, Osaka, and Kyoto.
During the 16th and 17th centuries, thousands of ordinary Japanese citizens and peasants as well as feudal lords and their families impacted their generations as they embraced Jesus Christ as their Savior. Often reaching out to their respective communities by opening up their own homes or establishing care houses, medical facilities, and organizing educational opportunities for the underprivileged, their lives of service spoke louder than their words. Their love won many others to Christ all over Japan. Tested by severe persecution, they also proved themselves to be courageous martyrs who were faithful to the Lord even in the face of abominable tortures and gruesome executions.
One of the fascinating and lesser-known aspects of church history is that long before Spanish missionary Francis Xavier began his outreach to Japan in 1549, believers from the Church of the East who had traveled from the Middle East through China and Korea, had come to Japan as early as the 2nd century A.D. and settled around Kyoto. Due to the evangelistic diligence of these believers known as the Keikyo, or “Shining Faith”, the Kyoto community of Christians produced an array of social and educational ministries that greatly blessed the people of the region. It’s most likely that it was the descendents of these early believers that received Xavier’s message with enthusiasm and made his mission so successful.
Through offering a “pilgrimage” flavor by visiting historic “Kirishitan” sites connected to the heroes of the faith, we endeavor to make the Christian history of these attractive islands come alive. Our guests will also have opportunities to meet local believers and be introduced to several vibrant ministries while enjoying the exquisite scenery and experiencing Japan’s modern inventions and comforts as well as its history.
By introducing God’s hand upon this nation and also upon its recent and ancient history, we pray that Japan’s future in Him will become evident and impact your own lives in powerful ways.
OUR TIPS
-
Before leaving home, learn some things about Japan.
-
Learn some language and don’t be afraid to use it. Simple pleasantries will help break the ice. Enjoy practicing with locals!
-
Learn what is appropriate behavior and body language.
-
Whenever possible, try to support locally-owned businesses, restaurants and other services. Try local food and drinks. Hamburgers can wait till you are home!
-
Shopping from artisans and helping keep traditional crafts alive are encouraged. Our guides can help you discern whether the items are religious in origin.
-
It is better to always ask first before photographing or videoing local people.
-
Leave only footprints… We should take care of the environment as we would our own homes.
-
“Saving face” is a very important concept in Japan. Try not to raise your voice, embarrass someone, or display irritation.
-
After returning home, please consider how you could support ministries, churches, and organizations that are working to build up the body of Christ in Japan.
-
And finally.... let’s SMILE and have fun! Thank you! AlphaOmega Tours Ltd.
